Responsible Tourism

Auckland Explorer Bus is committed to protecting the environment and minimising our impact on the area in which we operate. We are committed to making improvements to our  sustainable business practices in order to protect Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland for future generations of locals and visitors.

Every year, our transport businesses invest in fleet replacements with brand new coaches that have lower emission profiles, as well as being part of other environmental commitments and pledges.

Qualmark Gold Accreditation

Auckland Explorer Bus holds a Qualmark Gold certification, which indicates our business is a best-in-class sustainable tourism business in New Zealand, delivering exceptional customer experiences, which is an integral part of everything we do.

A Qualmark Gold certification includes a Sustainable Tourism Accreditation which identifies businesses leading the way in making the New Zealand tourism industry a world-class sustainable visitor destination. The Qualmark criteria is also recognition by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), meaning we have achieved global standards of sustainability.

Member of the Tourism Industry Aotearoa (TIA) and part of the New Zealand Tourism Sustainability Commitment (TSC).

Our parent company, Entrada Travel Group, has signed the New Zealand Tourism Sustainability Commitment, a program with a vision to lead the world in sustainable tourism. The NZ TSC has twelve commitments covering the concepts of rangatiratanga (economic), manaakitanga (visitor), whanaungatanga (host community) and kaitiakitanga (environment).

Each year we complete an annual declaration so that progress against these commitments can be monitored. As part of this, we pledge to protect and enhance the environment we depend on, for the benefit of future generations, while ensuring long-term business success.

Toitu Envirocare

In 2024 our parent company, Entrada Travel Group, signed a “carbonreduce” contract with Toitū Envirocare. Choosing Toitū Envirocare means partnering with a respected leader in sustainability certification. Toitū’s process will guide us in understanding our environmental impact in measurable terms.

Right now, we’re in the measurement stage, collecting data on every aspect of our operations. This initial phase of certification is a journey of discovery and fact-finding, as we gather insights that will help us establish a clear picture of our current footprint and identify areas where we can make the greatest impact in reduction: the data we gather now will become the foundation for our future goals and reductions.
